Melbourne Escape Rooms Q&A

An escape room game, or mystery room, is a live team game where a small group enter a room or themed space in order to solve puzzles and discover clues, trying to escape the room within 60 minutes.

We are proud to announce that an old wool factory in trendy Fitzroy has now become home to Melbourne’s most generous, immersive and creative escape rooms to date.

Located just a few metres from vibrant Brunswick Street and 1 minute from trendy Smith Street, The Mystery Rooms welcomes all players, whether first timers or experienced escapees to awaken their senses and ignite those dormant brain cells.

Unlike traditional escape room games, you are not locked in, but led into the beginning of a mystery that requires solving to delve deeper into the experience. Our rooms are interactive, imaginative and as realistic as a real life film set!

Can I play with 2 or 3 players?

Our escape games all require teams of minimum 4 players to book. Of course you are free to book for a 4 player session and turn up with less, but we’d recommend for the best chance of success to arrive with a minimum team of 4.

How do I book?

a) You must book online.

b) You can’t book by phone, e-mail, carrier pigeon or any deviation from instruction a)

How much does it cost?

$37.50 per player, though in family groups we allow U14s to play for free PROVIDING that the first 4 players are paying players.

When booking as a family, simply select the number of players aged 14 years or over when paying.

What do I need to play?

No special skills or knowledge are required to play a game but it will help to have at least one team member with basic English reading skills. It is recommended to wear comfortable and practical footwear to move around freely.

If you are stuck on any particular puzzle we will be on hand to guide you back on the right path!

How to Qualify for Chapter 4?

To play Chapter 4 you must first complete Chapters 1-3 in any order, although we recommend playing sequentially.

All bookings must be made at least 3 hours prior to the session enabling us to clear away the bones of previous teams.

Can my child play?

Our games are designed for players with a sense of humour and a desire to enjoy themselves. We don’t recommend our experiences for groups of children younger than 10 years of age, but younger players enjoy the games as part of a family.

We run special missions for groups aged 10-14 years old.

When are you open?

We are in the last stages of building Chapter 4, therefore we are opened in a limited hours capacity. You must make bookings online.

Monday – Tuesday – CLOSED

Wednesday – Friday – 5pm  -10pm

Weekends – 10am – 10pm

Is there parking?

There are free 2 hour parks in Napier Street and in the surrounding area.

Weekends can get busy so please allow plenty of time so that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your session start time.

Visit our Contact Page for more details.

Are you wheelchair friendly?

We are not officially a wheelchair friendly venue however some players have now played the game after conducting their own site inspection prior.

We will happily explain more over the phone, or you can book a free appointment to come visit the premises and be given a tour.

Claustro- phobia?

Our rooms are the largest in Melbourne and would not pose a problem to players with mild claustrophobia.

At NO POINT are you ever trapped or locked inside a ”small” room. The only locks you encounter are ahead of you in the challenge.

Can I get Velocity Points for escaping?

No Mum … you can’t.

Can you recommend other games?

Yes we can, and we’d love to! Our favourite games are ERM (South Melbourne, Flemington), Rush Escape Game (South Yarra) Trapt Bar & Escape Rooms (CBD) & Escape Experience (Oakleigh)
